Operations, strategy ja values
The Finnish Commerce Federation is a nationwide commerce sector lobbying organisation whose mission is to promote Finnish commerce. We develop the cooperative action and operational preconditions of commerce companies and take care of our members’ business and employer benefits.
We play a significant role in the labour market. The Finnish Commerce Federation negotiates the commerce sector’s collective labour agreements, resolves labour disputes and serves its members in employment affairs. We want to take our member service in a more diverse and topical direction. We maintain the commerce sector databank and regularly inform our members about matters of interest to the commerce sector.
The Federation of Finnish Commerce started its business in 2005, when Kaupan Keskusliitto ( Federation of Commerce) and Kaupan Työnantajaliitto ( Employer Association) merged. At the moment, Kesko’s Executive Director Jorma Rauhala acts as the chair and Managing Director Mikko Teittinen as the vice chair of the Federation’s board. Kari Luoto is the Managing Director of the Federation.
With you in decision-making and lobbying
We are strongly involved in the preparation and discussion of societal decision-making. As a member of the Federation, you get to influence what is happening in commerce lobbying. We ensure that authorities are aware of the needs of commerce and work to strengthen commerce’s weight in the Confederation of Finnish Industries, of which the Federation of Finnish Commerce is a member. We also influence regulations at EU level to advance competition within free trade. The Finnish Commerce Federation is committed in all of its operations to the principles of fair lobbying.
Members from daily consumer goods trade to wholesale trade
The Federation’s membership consists of around 1 900 companies from all sectors of commerce from the daily consumer goods trade, specialty goods trade, wholesale trade, technical trade to the car trade. The collective labour agreement established by us is collectively binding upon the whole sector. Through our dozens of member associations, we have a large contact area in Finnish industry, consumption and consumers. Our supporter members are companies, communities or entrepreneurs´ which do not operate in the commerce sector.
