Finnish Commerce Federation and PAM will start collective agreement and salary negotiations on 8 January
Finnish Commerce Federation and Service Union United PAM have agreed that next year’s collective agreement and salary negotiations will begin on Wednesday, 8 January 2025. For the Finnish Commerce Federation, the negotiations are led by Labour Market Director Anna Lavikkala.
The Finnish Commerce Federation and PAM have worked closely together in different working groups throughout the collective agreement period. The most significant cooperation projects have been related to the reform of the pay system for salespeople and the clarification of the working time provisions of the collective agreement.
“In addition to completing the outputs of the working groups, we aim to improve the availability of skilled labour in the collective agreement negotiations. We also hope that we will be able to develop tools for the needs of companies and personnel in the future through joint company-specific experiments,” says Anna Lavikkala, Labour Market Director at the Finnish Commerce Federation.
The Finnish Commerce Federation’s principle is to negotiate bilaterally with the Service Union United PAM in order to secure peaceful negotiations. Details about the collective agreement objectives or negotiations will not be made public.
The current collective agreements between the unions and the industrial peace are valid until 31 January 2025. However, after the expiry of the current collective agreement and before the entry into force of the new collective agreement, the provisions of the expired agreement will be applied.
Commerce is the largest employer in the economy and accounts for around 10 per cent of GDP. Commerce directly employs around 282,000 people, but the impact on employment almost doubles in terms of orders, purchases and investments from other sectors. Nearly equivalent numbers of women and men work in the commerce sector.
