Commerce sector’s first strikes in warehouses are postponed
The Minister of Labour Tuula Haatainen has decided to postpone the first strikes in the commerce sector’s warehouses due the proposal of the National Conciliator Anu Sajavaara. Warehouse’s first strikes were originally planned for 6–9 of February. These strikes are now postponed by two weeks.
The reason for moving the strikes is to ensure security of supply and the food supply for the most vulnerable citizens. A significant reason for the transfer decision is to secure the food supply of the most vulnerable, as a wave of strikes would have caused significant disruptions to statutory food services and challenged security of supply. According to the postponement decision, the strikes postponed by the decision of the Minister of Labor would start on February 20 at 05:00 am.
The first strikes in commerce sector’s stores are still planned to begin on 9 February and the second wave of strikes in logistics and stores in week 7 still threaten to happen.
Mediation of the commerce sector’s labor dispute will continue on Friday afternoon, February 3, 2023.
